Tip 657: Reflecting on Veterans Day
Reflecting on Veterans Day (Next Thursday)
This is the story of one veteran.
One Marine.
Marine Corporal Juan Dominguez stepped on an IED (an Improvised Explosive Device—a land mine) while serving in Afghanistan.
He lost both legs and an arm.
This didn’t stop him from marrying the love of his life, Alexis.
To honor the vet, the town of Temecula, California, donated all the elements of their dream wedding—an estimated $30,000 worth of flowers, venues, photographers, food, and a string quartet.
The best part?
Corporal Dominguez walked down the aisle with his beautiful bride. In a sunset ceremony.
“Did I ever think I was going to get to this point?” Corporal Dominguez asked. “Yes, yes, I did. Because nothing’s changed. I’m a little bit shorter. I lost a couple of legs and an arm, but my brain’s still here. And my heart’s still here.”
Their wedding video is here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fSpOkCKT0oA. (Ignore—or skip—the ads.)
And beware. Have some tissues with you when you watch it. The video is of love, of courage, of duty, of family.
To those who have served, thank you.
We love this stuff.
Deeply.
